1) Try freecycle www.freecycle.org then go to the part of the country you are in (central states, etc) then go to your state, then to your area. People give away stuff to other people (FREE) to keep it out of landfills. You have to give something away (anything -you'd be amazed what is offered!) before you can ask for something, but there are fish tanks offered all the time.

2) find an aquarium club in your area. Most fish clubs have an auction, swap meet, or want ads for their club, and you can get really good deals on tanks, fish, plants and equipment.

I have found goodwill type stores charge more than I think is reasonable for used fish equipment, but I do much better at garage sales or auctions.

A good place to check is a restaurant supply shop that specializes in used equipment! They often buy out contents of whole restaurants..and some of the seafood places have gigantic tanks!
The dealers don't want to store them so very often you can pick them up for next to nothing!

look at the salvation army or garage sales, places along those lines. unfortunately the bigger the tank the more money they cost! good luck!

I've gotten 10 gallons at Wal-Mart for only 50$. I'm sure you could find something on the web. ;-) Go search around... I'm sure you'll come up with something! :-D
Search engines:
www.google.com
www.ask.com
I find those the most helpful.

Ask your local pet store...when their tanks get old they usually replace them with new ones and sell the old one. You should be able to get one cheap and in good condition.
