The alternative to Turin's theory is the Shape Theory of Smell;i.e.the smell of a molecule is determined by its shape.The shapes of molecules would affect the intensities of their odors.
It would thus be seen that it may be possible to quantify the smell produced by farting.But you would have to do the farting in the instrument not here.
