it actually lowers the freezing point of the water. It allows the water to be below 32degrees and still be in liquid form.

it lowers the melting temperature of the ice, so at temperatures near ice's melting point it will melt, at really cold temperatures it doesn't actually do anything. Putting salt in water also increases the temperature at which it boils

Adding salt to water lowers the freezing point of water.
When making ice you can cool the water/ice mixture below 0C/32F.
It doesn't keep it from melting. It lowers the freezing point.

bahaha me and my friends used to put salt and ice on our nipples and see who could last the longest, first the ice will either stick or dissolve onto the salt which gets really really cold. then, your nipple starts to burn like it feels like some of the salt got in your tit, and then after the other guy quits you take it off and you have a rash which is a freezer burn thing that burns like **** anytime you touch it and it will last like a week.

It helps it melt faster. That's why up north they put salt (sometimes) on the snow.

thats why those big yellow thimgs by our roadsides have SALT written on them...when it snows someone then places this on the path or road to make it safe
