If you don't lay out your mission, how do people know what they are trying to accomplish overall? It is very important to know in general where the company is trying to go. There's a lot more to it that just up or more money.

Yes, without a mission statement...you have no mission. Mission statements, however, should be flexible enough to adapt to changing marketplaces.

Most mission statements that I've read are nothing more than a lot of empty paragraphs. They look good, but mean absolutely nothing.

Yea, it gives everyone who works there a mission or goal of the company and what the company stands for and expects.
