If you have a way of heating the caulking a little first it works best even if it means running the shower for a long time. You will then take a flexible 1 1/2" or 2" putty knife to work under the caulking and once you have it started you will be able to very slowly pull it away from the tub. Be careful not to scratch your shower. It works best if you work going the same direction it was installed which is usually from the top down and from left to right as most people are right handed.

Buy the very best quality silicone caulking you can afford to replace the old when you have the tub completely dry. Let it set up for at least 24 hours before showering again.

If you have a problem with mold stains, Clorox Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner does an excellent job of removing it. Just remember to wash and dry the tub completely before applying the new caulking.

That should do it.

I would try some of the bleach cleaners that are available...your landlord does not have to clean a place before he rents??? How odd..but I digress...

If the caulk is loose then start there with an old blunt screwdriver and a small hammer...just inch it along and pull it when possible...when it is all removed and cleaned and DRY(very important) go to your local hardware store and tell them what you want to caulk...you need a bathroom caulk that is a good grade and it does come in a small choice of colors...once you caulk do not use the tub for at least 12 hours or more if it is raining although a fan or heater will help things along...

BTW: please be aware that combining certain cleaning agents is toxic...good luck...

Use a flat head screwdriver. Just be careful not to force it too much. Buy silicon based white caulking for bathrooms, at Home Depot or Lowes

24 hours. Perhaps you could cover it witn towels and take a very low pressure shower. Humidity in the room though will make the caulk take even longer to dry, though.

Try taking a razor blade and slit the caulk. Lay blade down on side as to NOT cut tub/shower. Got to have patience with this though.

Mod M has it right on the money. Be sure to wear a mask when caulking the bathroom.

If you have a steam machine that will work. Spray that yucky stuff with x-14 and make sure the window is open!!! I use the steam machine on my shower doors and it takes everything off.
