well basically my thoughts would be that he needs bucks the same as anyone else, and that working somewhere is better than robbing someone...........He earns his money the proper way and the decent way......Would you look down on someone like that...........I would'nt!........

I've seen both sides of the coin. I used to work retail after I graduated and was even presented the opportunity to move up and be promoted. I chose not to because retail was not something I enjoyed and it was not going to help me.
It was good because I see it as a stepping stone into the real world--I worked 40 hours a week (but was only considered a part-timer) and had to learn to keep to a daily schedule, no sleeping in. I learned about office politics and what it was like to be at work daily for 8 hours, instead of being in class for 1. I learned the limits of my patience and how much endurance I was capable of. I also gained a deeper respect for those in customer service (not that I didn't before!).
But after the opportunity to be promoted was presented to me, I sat down for a long time and thought about what it would mean and where it could take me. It would mean more money, benefits, etc. In the end I did not take it because it wasn't where I wanted to be and it would not serve my goals to remain there. I had a couple of people who I hadn't seen for a while come in and be very surprised that I was working there. It reminded me that I had a BA from a 2nd tier university and I was working...retail.
Sometimes when you need to make some money retail or fast food places aren't a bad way to go, unless it's being used an excuse NOT to utilize your potential. It's what you make of the experience is what's important

I work for a gas station but my degree was in managment and I'm the Assistant General Manager and make 40K a year. Honestly, a degree means nothing. I do interviews on a regular basis. I wish I could take a video camera with me. People are so blatently dishonest in interviews and they lie through their teeth because they think thats what they are supposed to say. To get a good job you have to be able to effectively sell yourself to who you want to work for. You need examples and stratagies you've used before that worked. Fast food isn't bad. If you work your butt off and get yourself noticed you can move up in the company. My sweetie worked for McD's for 11 years and was the GM for 4 of them. Your only going to get as far as what your willing to work for.

It depends on the circumstances. There are homeless people with degrees; maybe there was just one MBA or middle manager too many. You never know what a person's situation is or how they got there.
If, on the other hand, there was no real reason for them to work at a fast food place...well, it's not me working there. As long as they were happy, let 'em flip burgers.

No, I wouldn't look down at them, because I have no degree at all... I would just wonder why did they get into this situation.

I would wonder why they are wasting their degree. Why would you want to be $30,000 in debt and work at McDonald's? College was a waste for them if they are not going to use their degree.

No. It's a job and if they have a degree that I'm more than sure it's just temporary.
