Here's an off-the-wall theory.

Elminate the corporate tax on any company whose highest-paid employee has a total compensation that is no greater than 50 times that of the lowest-paid employee.

If the boss wants to make a million a year, everyone has to make at least 20k. If he gets 2 million, then everyone else gets at least 40K.

Would companies do this voluntarily in order to avoid corporate taxes?

Many of you assume that if the company starts making higher profits, it is solely the responsibility of the executives. But if the company is doing well, doesn't that mean that EVERYONE in the company is making it successful? Shouldn't the guys at the bottom benefit, too?

Let's say it would be a step in the right direction. It's leans a little towards socialism, but that is a good thing. Let the CEO have a few perks, let the employees have a better health care program. The janitor is just as important as anyone else in a well run business. If the washrooms arn't clean and the garbage disposed of the CEO and others wont be around to long. Your idea is good, just needs some fine tuning.

That is an interesting Idea.

However, it is kind of capping sallaries for people. If someone in the company is responsible for high profits, they should be rewarded, not necessarily the guy emptying the trash cans.

How would you value his retirement benefit package? Because I can see a lot of ways to creatively get around it. A company might do it, but if they want a CEO who has better opportunities, they won't get him/her.

They might, but don't forget it's cheaper to exploit illegals before they even think of paying Americans what they're worth.

would never work. CEO's and such would just get things in trade such as houses, free limo services etc.
