Spammers regularly send robot software through Yahoo and similar sites to pick up email addresses -- unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it because Yahoo doesn't care enough to stop them.

Robots scan through these answers. They see landowner and make the assumption that there may be an address landowner@yahoo.com. I would recommend never posting your email address anywhere. Mine is used for garbage so I don't care. My regular address is kept secret.

uncheck the box where it asks you if you want to get email notifications for your questions.

When you post a new question there should be like 5 different sections.

Yes, notify me when I receive new answers to this question.

That's one of them. There should be a box where you can uncheck that option.

You can also select the emails you believe to be spam in your inbox and label them as spam.
