We plan to go go skiing in Livigno, Italy, in April 2007. Does anyone know how the skiing conditions normally are in April? This season April suits us better than February or March. Is it more sun than skiing? Earlier we´ve been there in Feb-March and liked it very much although it can be a little chilly, like minus 24 degrees C...
So, come on folks, help us with the April-info please.
Regards Tonie

Impossible to say really. You're likely to have more sun than snow in terms of weather, but you just don't know from 1 week to the next. Ski-ing in April is always slightly risky - you may find the snow is becoming slushy and sparse, or you may have totally fantastic snow and quieter pistes.

If you are definitely going to go in April, you could try a different resort more likely to still have good snow such as those at higher altitude or on a glacier - Val Thorens and Tignes in France being 2 examples.

Livigno is a high altitude resort, the village is at 1800m so the conditions should still be fairly good at the beginning of April, it has been known for some runs (not many) to be open early May. Expect the village to be fairly dead though, and slushy!! The Temps are still really cold in April as well so beware! if the sun ain't out wrap up warm!
