to stop smoking. I did stop and for a whole year and foolishly started again and now am worse than ever and hating myself for it. Have tried hypnosis, acupuncture, patches, some other new fangled thing.......and will power....is evasive at the moment. Would appreciate any fresh slant or will power boost tip.

It is one thing you haven't thought of, you really I mean really want to stop. I stopped 6 yrs ago...This is how I did it,,I started changing my habits, no smoking after I eat, or talking on the telephone, or when I am on a break a work..Try a little exercise when you think of smoking, or maybe drink water instead, but whatever you do do not substitute smoking with anything, no gum , no mints, or candy or any other thing that will become habit forming....This is not a easy thing to do, matter of fact I found it the hardest thing I ever did, but the rewards of not smoking is wonderful..........I smell better, my clothes are always fresh now...my house smells wonderful and oddly enough it seems people give you a whole different respect I never felt before........Nobody said it would be easy, because it's not...but like I said YOU HAVE TO WANT TO STOP SMOKING ,that is the key

The best way to quit, sorry to say, is through will power. But, if it's a really tough habit to break, you will need help. Get your family/friends on board, and tell them not to let you smoke, and try, rather than quitting cold turkey, to lower the amount you smoke. Go for achievable goals: One pack a day to half a pack, to three or four, to one or two. Designate specific times of day as smoking time, and slowly eliminate each one. Then you're body can slowly used less and less nicotine, so you can quit easier when you're will power is feeling stronger. Good luck!

Put the cigs down and walk away. It is as easy and as difficult as that .Change your thinking .Just like anything else you want real bad let nothing stand in your way of acheiving this .I know the cravings are hell but it's all in the mind and you have to change yours. Be bullheaded if you will ,say no and mean it to yourself .When the craving arrives go someplace you can't smoke ,get busy doing something get your mind on something else .thats what i did and i've been smoke free for a long time.Hope this works for you . You do have control

There is a new drug put out by Pfizer that is supposed to kill the cravings of smoking. It is brand new and worth a try. Different than other stop smoking drugs.

Can't remember the name but you can go to Pfizer.com and it should be available there. It is a prescription item.
Good luck

I'm in the same boat. I feel for ya. I stopped Monday and I'm dying today for a smoke but I remember how crummy I felt and I don't want to do this again, so I won't do it. I just want to do this once.

when i used to live at home both me and my mum smoke, we've both quit since. she stopped first then she stopped me smoking in the house except my room, then she stopped me doing that as she could smell it so i had to go out side becuase she could smell it. evetually i got so frustated and quit. so if you want to quit get someone to knagg you and stop smoking in the house at least that will help you cut down

slowly lower your daily intake of cigarretes each week. each week, take two less than usual everyday. keep track of how much you are taking over the course of the day, so you'll know if your taking two less. its more effective than just quitting alltogether. be strong!
