Modern U.S.A. because us Americans have fun whether we have money or not and everyone over here has the freedom to express our opinions (example: We can say what we want to about Bush,..good or bad without worrying about our lives the next day unlike a few other countries.) Plus, we have a capitalist system as well as hardly having any racism for the most part. Our families are usually close, but if we have a dispute, most Americans can easily go somewhere nearby, like a park, to clear our minds and reflect on life. Communitcation is huge over here, so nearly everyone has "connections," whether it is for a job or people to go to for the best price of something. As long as you are willing to work, America is the place to be! Anyone can have a comfortable lifestyle here now days.

One cannot really answer this. Why? Since we are all still debating factors that make people happy, which may vary from one country to the next.
For example, personal success and self-expression being seen as the most important in the US, while in Japan, fulfilling the expectations of family and society is valued more highly.

I think it those small third world countries...They have no TV or radio, so they don't know all the crap that's going on right now. They are also not spoiled with material things. In pictures I see from those areas, even though they have very little and not much to eat, they seem very happy with their communities

Bhutan is said to put Gross National Happiness over Gross National Product, but it not particaully rich and has problems with its economy (and government - some riots) but materially it is poor, Sweden has the highest Happiness Index Rating, based on health, wealth, and surveyed happiness. it does however have huge taxes on booze, which wouldn't make me to happy. all in all it depends on what you class as happiness, yes, the USA is described as free, although in my liberal view it is not, (watch Loose Change) however I shall not rant on about that; The USA has huge differences between the rich and poor, and being poot has never been viewed as much fun. in our world we seem to view our lives thorugh material possessions, thus wealth, but there are plenty of people whom own nothing (Buddist monks) and are pretty gleeful

Hope this helps

happyness isn't something static and general,it's a dynamic state of being.you can't be always happy as you can't be always unhappy. So happyness can't be messured even, cause no two people have the same scale of happyness. But we can hypothese that the most stupid egoistic and ignorant people are the happiest.By this the first would be the USA(this presumed freedom mekes feel happy sometimes),but if you were thinking of the state of wellbeing it would be Sweden Danmark or Norwey.
