They should call it handball.I refuse to call football soccer.The Americans should change it!

Everyone has asked this quesion. No one has a good answer. I am American and I agree with the first guy who annswered. Just leave well enough alone cause it probably won't change. Everyone I know on my team and all others call it soccer. Get over it.

Because it's a form of football, just like "rugby football" (more commonly known as rugby) is.
Both American football and soccer have their origins in varieties of football played in the United Kingdom in the mid-19th century, and American football is directly descended from rugby football.

I'm not really sure thats a question, why do Europeans and other countries call soccer football? The answer wont cure world hunger, but if you must know why then I don't have an answer.

Because it evolved from football. It's just a different code of football like rugby football or Aussie rules football.
If you knew anything about football, you wouldn't ask the question.

a) Because the game uses the feet and a ball alot.

b) Because the majority of Americans are dumb and/or rednecks
