question about composting?

i threw a bunch of sticks/leaves/grass cuttings and such in a pile and i wanna compost it. any instructions on what i should do?

Find a spot in your yard where the smell of composting won't disturb you neighbors. Make two circular rings with chicken wire about 2-3 feet around. Over lap the edge and Tie wire it together so you've got like cylindrical cage or square if you like. Take the cages the tie them together so they look like a figure eight or whatever and then stake it next to a fence or into the somewhere with. Put all your organic material in one side.Food scraps, egg shells, leaves, Fluffy's nuggets, whatever--and fill up the one side close to the top. After it's been composting awhile it will break down and dribble out the bottom of the holes in the chicken wire where you can scoop it up and fertilize your garden. Take a shovel and empty the composting material into the other side to keep the mix brewing every six months or so.

You can even just shove a bunch of matter into a plastic bag and let it compost in your garage--

wellll, you need a little more STUFF...start with some sort of container(like a BIG plastic or metal trash can)...punch holes in it so your compost can "breathe", put leaves and grass clippings and very small twigs in the can...pour in some beer(into the can NOT you-to seed it and get in going)

Roll it around once a week or so...it should be HOT in there to indicate your compost is cooking and you should be able to feel it thru the can...

You can put in vegetable and table scraps BUT these do attract critters and most can open a lid...you can throw in some earthworms too just to hurry things along; be patient it takes time...good luck...

sticks need to be cut into small (1/2" pieces) or ground with a mulch maker.. leaves and grass need to be thrown in the heap to cook stirring weekly.

just google "composting" you will find different sites to tell you how and when to wet it down,, turn it etc,,, you will get better answer there...
