Aspartame, phenylalanine, nutra sweet, splenda are all chemically concontions that are horrible for anyone .May as well be drinking arsenic is small doses.Your better off drinking a non-diet soda with real sugar and getting more excercise and burning it off at least sugar comes from a natural source to start with even if it is processed and refined .To sweeten foods you can try stevia it is right up there with sugar and no chemicals .You can find stevia at health food stores. I'd get checked out by a good docter and steer clear of any chemicals in food or drink .If you can't pronounce it or no what it is leave it be. Hope your health improves :)

Aspartame and Phenylalanine are both known to cause seizures and muscular disorders in high doses, but maybe you just have an allergy to it. If you have to drink soda, try Diet Rite (which has no caffeine and flavored with Splenda, which is nowhere near as harmful as aspartame).

I don't know, but I can't take aspartame - even small quantities give me a shocking headache, never heard of anyone else being affected by it though, so quite interested now!

okay not really a proper answer but in a music video called sugar by s.o.a.d the words aspartame kills get flashed up on the screen - maybe your not the only one badly affected.

Hey there,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
you may suffer from PKU.
See
http://www.nspku.org/what_is_PKU.htm
I suspect you need to avoid sources of Phenylalanine and substances that can be converted to it like Aspartame.
You can be tested for this but please consult your healthcare professional.
Good Luck !
