What features are you looking for other then to just pay?

I know you didn't want a reply from someone that uses a free email service but I use GMail, GMail for your Domain and Yahoo. I the interface on Yahoo and the storage/innovative interface on Gmail.

I like the Free GMAIL accounts. Here is why, they allow POP3/SMTP access and large attachments. The only thing I do not get that most pay services offer is throw-away email addresses.

With POP3/SMTP access I run the Thunderbird email client which has all my gmail accounts in one place. One press of the button and all my email address are checked. Being that they are downloaded, I can read and write emails when I am on the road disconnected from the Internet.

Since Gmail is free whenever I need a new email account I just invite myself over and over again.

At register.com they have a wide variety of services http://www.register.com/retail/product/compare/email_chart.rcmx and they allow you to have your email address at your own domain name, so it would be something like yourname@whateveryouwant.com

Of course, they don't offer nearly as much space as Yahoo or Google. They were also recognized as 1st in the Online Services Industry by J.D. Power & Associates and 24/7 telephone support available.

why pay when you can get the best for free? let's see you chat to your friends in the inbox of any email account but gmail. you can delete all emails in your inbox with two clicks. pass your cursor over an email from another gmail user and you will see a pic of them if they uploaded one. many many more things here you can't get anywhere else.

email me at cssiscool@gmail.com for an invite

If you are looking for a service that is NOT free, I would suggest purchasing hosting space. Dreamhost has affordable plans and you get a free domain registration with each account.
