Liquid nitrogen is, as its name suggests, nitrogen in a liquid state which is around -196ºC. It doesnt freeze verything it comes into contact, basically anything that has a lower boiling point than liquid nitrogen (helium for example), but yes, its a really good cryogen (something that freezes something else) and you can freeze all sorts of stuff, check out this website for a movie of some guy freezing an apple

hope this helps

Liquid nitrogen is simply nitrogen gas (a diatomic molecule) that has been cooled to a temperature below its condesation point (liquified if you will). Because this point is so much colder than many other substances and because it is an inert gas (for the most part) it has many industrial applications. However it will not freeze everything it comes into contact with although it does freeze many substances

its nitrogen (the gas) in its liquid form. all elements and compounds can be a liquid solid or gas at a certain temperature.
(nitrogen turns from a solid to a liquid at -210 degrees C, and a liquid to a gas at -195 degrees C.)((C stands for celcius))
