I mean, are you afraid of the moment to know if you have it?
In my case, I'm choosing my college major to be in music, and I'm terrified of maybe be let down that I may not have the talent.
I love to sing and wish to learn piano for composing my own songs.
I know that this is going to be a tough life and career to choose but I can't imagine myself doing anything else. I also like acting and part of my work are short stories in the form to be a movie one day. My mom bugs me about it, because she says that I'm confused but I'm not, I love all three (acting, singing and writing).
I just want to know if any of you feels that way, feeling afraid of your dream being just a dream.
Also because of all buzz about beauty and perfection, I get intimidated to be looked over just because of having a flaw.
I just want to know the opinion of my generation, thank you in advanced.

I am definitely affraid of meeting my own expectations. Case in point. I have been working for this company for three years as a CAD Drafter and have always strived for more, more responsibilities, a higher wage, a promotion to a more predominate job title. My boss feels otherwise and has been holding me back. Instead of putting up with it like I usually do I found a new job. I have two days left of my two week notice then I start else where as a Design Engineer. I have always dreamed at making it this far but never expected to this soon. I know this may seem weird but when I went into the interview I never knew I was applying for for that position. My resume said CAD Drafter and told them basically that I was unsatisfied with my current place of work. Well I got it. Now I am worried that I am going to fall flat on my face but I think it's ok to an extent. That fear or worry whatever it may be just makes you want to work at it. I shouldn't really be preaching because I'm in the same boat but take a leap of faith. Also one other thing, God has already got your life planned and he's the one that should be in complete control. So you and me should let go he's got the wheel.

If you are majoring in music ed. expect regular courses like english, science, math, etc. Don't worry there are courses in music theory that teach music composistion ( these are great for teaching how to compose your own music.) You will love it if you don't mind takeing non music courses also. When I was in college , there was a course called Solfeggio, that course gives great confidence in sight reading. Hope it goes well for you.

I'm not of your generation but I think you should follow your dreams. However, have a backup plan to pay the bills until you get what you want...and never give up.
