I have lived in Edinburgh for the past 4 years and I really like it, but have been to Glasgow a few times and I love it. The people, the pubs, the city......................everything is better. Do you agree?

OK, I'm a Glaswegian, and kinda prejudiced - but Edinburgh seems less like a city, more like a Tartan-covered shortbread tin trying to have an identity of their own, and failing miserably!

having lived in both i would have to agree,Edinburgh is a better place to be sitting on a summers day with beer in hand but Glasgow and the people just seem much more friendly, there is not much between the two but Edinburgh always seems to be in such a hurry all the time.

I always found Glasgow that little bit more friendlier than Edinburgh. I love both but if I had to choose between the two it'd have to be Glasgow.

I'm with >woohoo< on this one. Aberdeen is a grand auld town. Fancy popping in to the Tilted Wig for a Glen Morangie? As for your stated rivalry, I'd have to go with Glasgow. The people in general seem much nicer. That, and I've always had a soft for The Broons and 'Or Wullie anyways. =)

No Peterhead, we have everything here even fish, seagulls, ugly power station, grotty town centre, no decent parks to go for a stroll in or decent sports facilities. We also have the most ugliest building in Christendom. We have the prision where Scotlands sex offenders are housed and a town centre full of alcoholics sent from all over Scotland to grace us with their presence. And to cap it all the weather is lousy all the time and that is why it is called the bloo Toon. So come here please not Glasgow best place to live....property is cheap.

The only thing I don't like are the immigrants they bring so much of their own culture with them that the locals are revolting... they themselves are so parochial that you'll be lucky to get as much as a By Your Leave!.

Glasgow for the people and Edinburgh for the architecture and culture.
Overall, I visit Glasgow more often and like it for a day, but prefer the countryside of Dumfries and Galloway!!!

Edinburgh = more eclectic, more cosmopolitan, more visiting acts of every conceivable sort, and the world's biggest arts party every August

Glasgow = more indigenous stuff, better home-grown bands, less arsey pub/club landlords, nicer vibe if you like it a bit street, and a hugely enjoyable celtic festival every February

Both then. I was brought up near G and now live in E.

Glaswegians are the friendliest people in Britain once you get to know them. There are also a lot more things to do in the city than there is to do in Edinburgh and the nightlife is great
