I don't understand it. And it's mainly for Spanish actually.

If lo, la, los, and las are considered the direct object pronouns... than what is a normal object pronoun?

I find this to be really hard (to remember).

There's no such thing as a 'normal' object pronoun.
lo,la, los, las are direct objects and stand for nouns used as direct objects.
le (and some more, I don't speak Spanish well) is an indirect object pronoun and replaces a phrase with to him/her/it/them.
In English; I gave the boy the pizza.
the pizza--the direct object (what was given)
the boy--the indirect object, can be replaced by to the boy.
.With pronouns: I gave him it (or I gave it to him). Direct object prounoun 'it' standing for pizza. Indirect object pronoun him, standing for the boy.
I can explain it really well in English, french and German, but I don't know enough Spanish to give you great examples.
The main problem in English is that we only have object pronouns, not direct object and indirect object pronouns! Just remember to translate 'le' in le da as he gives TO him/her/it and the lo,la,los, las as plain him/her/it/them...that usually helps.
