It depends on how long you plan on staying in, what MOS you get, where you get stationed, etc. Click on my YA ID and then on the e-mail link and give me some details if you want. I'm about ready to hit my 10 year mark, but I plan on getting out at the end of this enlistment. I'm not overly hoo-ah or anti-. I'll give you a straight up answer.

I never really understood the attraction to the Army. If you are military minded at all then why not go for the best, the Marine Corps. If the USMC seems too frightening, then examine why you are even considering the military. The USMC is a great experience but make no bones about it, the mission of the USMC is to defend this Country and that at times is a bloody brutal business. But when there is down time, Marines are the best party fraternity in town. GO USMC.

It depends on your mind. Do you really like army life? Are you going to be a good soldier?

If you like being shouted at and getting up at silly hours then yes! Personally I can't imagine a worse horror than being in the army.

You must be joking!
Under-paid,under-valued, being sent to war zones. Just to fight wars nobody else wants to.
Living under the constant threat of being tried for crimes when your just doing the job you've been told to.
Hated by the very same people that sent you to fight their wars in the first place.
Badly equipped, badly trained and forced to share your barrack room with gays, drop outs and loonies. Yet being held to account if you should have the nerve to question this.
Choose any profession you like. But for Christ sake don't join the army. You'd be mad to.

Compared to being nude, wet and locked in a cage and then repeatedly poked with sharp sticks....yes, being in the army is a good life. Stay far, far away from the Army.

I would highly recommend taking advantage of the ROCE program. If education is not what you are looking for then look into how many people die from the military vs. OSHA recorded fatalities. If you do a search for "OSHA deaths" and "Military deaths" you may be able to let the numbers sway you one way or the other.
Good Luck,

depends upon what type you are. It will teach you to obey, and to command. It will teach you to respect your country and to give respect to your fellow contrymen. It will teach you to solve problems in life which you may not be able to solve otherwise. It will teach you to remain calm in crisis and to remain calm in the time of happiness.
and It will teach you to lay down your life for a cause which is decided by a dirty politician.
now you decide.
