my stand on this issue has and always will be pro-life. For the simple reason that when I was born, I was given a heart to love with and a soul to care and blue eyes and brown hair, but with all the things I have been given, There is one thing that I was not given and that is the right to say when someone lives or dies. To picture myself in the position to say kill this baby or take this living being from me, that is not my right to do. This power is given only to one and that is God. I cannot say take this life....that is not for me to say. I could not do it, I cannot bear to think about dealing with how I would feel after and I cannot imagine how I would justify my actions to myself and my God.

I have to say upfront, that I'm pro-life. I am just theorizing, but I think most abortions are chosen out of fear. If they're young, fear of their parents reactions or fear of being a very young parent alone. I don't know all the reasons for older women. Sometimes I think they believe a child would be an inconvenience. There must be many reasons. I was in this position once and chose to give my baby up for adoption. I really don't understand why someone would think death would be better than life with a loving family. I think too, that the people who make money from abortions have worked really hard to make women believe that their babies aren't babies until a certain time frame and so some believe they aren't actually killing a child. Though to me it seems that if it can grow into a child, then it's alive and it's a life and killing it shouldn't be an option. I'm sure some pro-choice people may want to blast me for some of these statements, but before they do I have to say that I had to sit and hold my best friends hand while a doctor removed pieces of a baby from her that were left over from a botched legal abortion and were causing her to hemorrhage when she started her period. Before it was all said and done she had to have a hysterectomy and could not have any more children. After the abortion and before the hysterectomy she was in terrible pain every time she had her period. The abortion doctor had twisted her womb around her spine. I really don't think women know what can happen to them when they undergo this procedure.

As a former fetus
I'd say I'm against abortion.
But really, I feel that no one knows what God has in store for their lives, and to decide that YOU can't have a child when God so obviously disagrees is pretty bold of you.
I became pregnant at 17, while in high school. As hard as it was to have a child then, and have to deal with all the stigma of being a "teen" mother. Not to mention the pain and anguish it caused my parents and other family members. It was soooo worth it.
Now I am 30 and I have the most beautiful 12 yr old on the planet. What I realize now that I didn't know then was that I was put on this planet to be his mother. I've never had another child, and probably never will. If I had had an abortion, then I never would have become a mother.
Everyone has a purpose in life (and death). It's not up to us to decide who should live or die to fulfill their purpose.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

I usually stay out of political discussions. But since you are asking so nicely, I will answer with my opinion. I am a conservative, and I am pro-choice. Not common for most conservatives, but I think it stems from the fact that I am a woman. I am very protective of my health being that I have a chronic illness. I have never had an abortion, and I take precaution to make sure that I won't get pregnant. However, if I were to get pregnant I would like to have the option to not go through with the pregnancy. Like I said, I have a chronic illness, and a pregnacy could be detrimental to my health.
My husband on the other hand is conservative (like me), and is pro-life. He believes that it is considered murder. I think that is how most pro-lifers believe.
I don't know whether or not I believe that it is murder or not. I guess I'd rather not think about it because as a woman, it's more important to me to have control over my body.

Most women who are pro-choice do not "advocate" abortion. They (and others) feel that it is up to the individual who will be carrying the child for nine months and then will have to care for it for 18 years.
The other issue comes into play as to when a fetus is actually a child. Is it from conception? From heartbeat? Or from the time it can live on its own outside of the mother (viable)?
Women who use abortion as contraception or a "back up plan" are pieces of trash, in my opinion. The entire debate eludes me since there is NO EXCUSE in this day and age to become pregnant if you don't want to be. There is free and cheap contraception available to men and women all across the country. And of course, there is always the option to abstain.

What if the father of the child was your father or your brother? What then?
What if you got pregnant after being raped?
These are just 2 of the top 5 reasons why women get abortions. Sexual abuse and rapes are actually very common in today's society.
As for why there is an argument - there are three real reasons:
(1) Religious fanatics believe what the pulpit pushers are telling them that they should regard all life as precious - this is irregardless of the fact that most religious doctrines - including the Christian Bible - specifically state that life is considered to have begun only at the moment of birth and beyond
(2) Society tends to shun unwed mothers - if society were to ACCEPT unwed mothers instead, it would go a LONG way toward helping many women to keep their children - in some societies TODAY the women would be stoned, mutilated or killed for being pregnant before being wed - and in some ultra-religous Christian households that would also happen
(3) The final real problem is MONEY. Contrary to popular politican spin speeches, the economy is horrible right now, and many many many people are suffering. Some people cannot even afford to buy enough food to have ONE meal a day. What if you get pregnant then at this point? Since society shuns you and religious organizations will just say you got what you deserved, what do you do? If you try to bring the child to term, it will starve to death and be stillborn.
Which is kinder, which is crueler? Without religion and without society's hangups, if pregnant woman were RESPECTED and LOVED unconditionally, there would only be the want for abortions in the cases of rapes and incest and similar. But reaching that goal may never come, because mankind needs someone to hate, despise and try to kill.
In this case, they want to kill the unwed mother.

To pro choicers the fetus is not a child. To pro lifers it is.
The problem comes with this debate of when human life begins. Remember, few people are for abortion, but are simply against the government having a say in who has children and who does not. It's a dangerous thing to give government that kind of power.
I don't know anyone who has sex with the intention of getting pregnant so they can have an abortion.
I am anti abortion, but pro choice. In other words every precaution should be taken to prevent the need for an abortion but the government should not have the power to decide who must or may not have children.

I posted this some where else so I will copy it here..............While I am to old to have to worry about it, I always prayed I would never have to be put in that position, While the thought of someone getting an abortion does not make me happy, it makes me sad actually, but what also makes me sad are unwanted, undesired, unwelcome babies born to mothers who should not be mothers, It is a very very tough position and I for one don’t think I have that right to make that decision for someone else, if this makes sense. Am I pro Abortion, NO, am I Pro Life, YES, ....Should I FORCE my will on woman being a man myself, NO!!! There for I can not choose for them, they have to choose, that’s where Pro Choice comes in.
I dont think if you look at the FACTS, its not really a different party thing like alot of un-informed or just plain unintelligent people think,
did you know that actually When Roe VS Wade came to the Supreme Court in 1973, Nixon, a Republican was in office, and The opinion of the Court, for Roe VS Wade that made abortions legal was written by Republican Justice Harry Blackmun,a Republican Nixon appointee, the Chief Justice at the time for the legalization of abortion was Republican Warren E. Burger who both of them voted for the legalization of abortion, yes you had Democrats voting the same way, but there is alot of gray area. The Actual Roe VS Wade was more about telling a smaller court that they did not have the right to choose for a woman. You see people with not allot of intelligence think OH DEMOCRATS are for killing babies; Laura Bush has even said on the TODAY SHOW that she doesn’t think Roe VS Wade should be overturned. , I think there are as many republican women who get abortions as democrats

well im all for small government - which means a gov't of necessity; and it is necessary that the gov't at least protects the weakest members of our society/ those with the least power and influence on public affairs; ie-the poor, the old, the young and the unborn.
any woman who tells you its a back up plan is utterly confused about the impact abortion has on the mother. an abortion is not a happy occasion; and feminists who celebrate the fact that 50million have occured since roe ought to be ashamed.
edit-'not at all separate from the mother' is what someone wrote. well, a five year old can't survive on his own either. likewise, an unborn child isn't merely a parasite that requires nourishment from its mother, its life, and its a stage in the cycle that every person here has experienced.

pro choice believe its the womans right because it her body. When really they aren't killing the woman. They are killing the child. I dont understand how you can say its her body!!!! There are so many people out there spending $$$$$ trying to have them and then there are women (girls) spending $ to kill them! I don't know why you even need to think murder is a womans choice. Even the woman that the law was made for (Roe V. Wade) has changed her mind and realized murder is murder. Sorry if Im preaching...woman use this as a form to get outta responsiblity...you can have "raw" sex and not have to remember to take birth control cause you can easily murder the child. I will never ever understand prochoice...other then being greedy and unhuman!

I don't think it's as easy as kill my baby - don't kill my baby for most people. There are a lot of other factors involved - end pregnancy or baby is abused for life. End pregnancy or have baby that will starve to death. Some people don't feel they can handle it. While I believe adoption is a perfectly viable option for most unwanted pregnancies, I can't begin to imagine what it's like to be in a situation where I felt I had to make a decision like that. So I'll leave it up to the individual to decide. I do think the "it's my body" argument is bs, though. You made the decision that you were okay with pregnancy when you chose to have sex. Sorry it didn't turn out quite the way you expected. This of course doesn't apply to sexual abuse cases.
And I could never do it myself.
