I am not a neo-con, or any type of con. Lou Dobbs makes an important point here, if not on the economy, then at least on the resentment that is brewing here in the USA.

Republicans are out there touting the great economy. But wages, when adjusted for inflation, have gone down over the past six years. The Dow is up, but only a couple of percent higher than it was in 2000. If you compare the 2006 economy with the 2003 economy, yes, it's looking great. But if you compare it with the 1999 economy, it's no better, and in fact worse when adjusted for inflation.

I am middle class, and I don't mind paying taxes. In fact, I would gladly pay more if it would eliminate the national debt. (I don't want my 3 kids paying the price our my generation's largess.) But I would pay it more happily if I knew that it wasn't being used so frivilously, to line the pockets of friends and contributors, to buy unnecessary things, to offer grants to businesses that are already flush with cash, to invade a country that did not threaten us.

The reason the middle class is falling by the wayside is the Democrats have created an entire class that is totally dependent on the government. Entitlements and welfare have damaged entire generations. There are families out there that have had 3 and 4 generations totally dependent on section 8 housing, food stamps and welfare. Democrats like it when people are dependent on government because it is much easier to control those people. They have conned African Americans and Hispanics with their bull. Anyone can achieve whatever they want in this country. Thats why other countries hate us. We work hard, live affluently and have the freedom to do anything. Islamo-facists hate the fact that we have freedom. They want to control every living person. Ask the Taliban.

I'm not a neocon, but I'm a fan of Lou Dobbs and I watch his show everyday. This country needs to wake up !

I agree that it should be called a "maximum wage". And it needs to be somewhere around fifteen dollars or more in order to keep up with inflation. I have often said that I believe Congress and the President needs to live in poverty for one year in this country under all of their social programs cut and see how well they could do.

The President keeps saying that the economy is good. But what he ISN'T saying is that it's only good for the rich.

Regardless of your income level, raising children is tough. But what are the republican and democratic party doing about it, nothing. At least Bush gave us a tax break and reduced the lowest income tax level from 15 to 10%.

Everyone's answer to this question is to tax the corporations on profits. But what people don't understand is that they divide this tax up and put it into the cost of the product. When you set your revenue goals, you take all of your costs (raw materials, labor, taxes, etc) and figure out what it costs to make a single item. You then add a 20 to 80% profits on top of the cost and sell it.

So by raising taxes on corporations, you raise the price of goods, which means that every consumer is paying the corporations tax.

So the answer to the problem is not a higher minimum wage or higer taxes, it is to get rid of our stupid income tax system and go to a sale tax system. Everything you buy and sell should be taxed, you keep 100% of your income, and you only pay taxes when you conduct a business transaction.

I am surprised. By the time Clinton left office I was upper lower class for wages, hard word and such, now I am lower upper class for wealth. I think the problem is that too many Union workers got used to making 25 - 50 an hour for a job that wasn't worth 15. I mean really, it was the left that cried and whined in the 70's about the USA having to join in the international community. Well, guess what, you guys got your wish. Remember, be careful what you wish for, learn your lesson I hope.

Why is this directed at "neo-cons" you make it seem like the president has to do with how many are in each class....

The president has never put me in any status class.. I have been living since Carter and Jimmy, Ronnie, Bush 41, Billy, or Bush 43 ever put me into a class. I always did that myself, or before i started working, my parents.. Everyone has a choice to make into which class they want to be in.. We don't live in a communist state where your income is given to you by the government.....
