If one were to be truly mad, that would likely entail ignorance to ones surroundings. I think this question is a bit of a spinoff of the "ignorance is bliss" concept. If you don't know what can hurt you, you're not hurt by it until it stings. You can walk through a valley of scorpions and until they sting you, you are safe...but they will sting. There is a sense of safety because there is no fear, not because there is no danger.

The search for security is an illusion.
Fear of not being able to survive paralyzes us from engaging with life. It holds us back from everything we attempt to accomplish.
Without uncertainty and the unknown, life is just the stale repetition of outworn memories. You become the victim of the past, and your tormentor today is your own self, left over from just another yesterday.
There is a certain safey in madness.

Only if all the people around you are mad as well. In social environment, the insane can be made sane by the power of conformity.

really good question i believe there is do to i live with madness daily i find escape with jesus or a really good movie if that does not work a hot bath could help

it may lead to further complications.
hence prevention to madness is better.
