I'm leaving my work place after three years as a CAD Drafter to go be a design engineer with another. I'm leaving because of my boss and he knows it because my boss and I don't really get along. I currently have the rest of today (Wed.) and two more days left of my two week notice then I'm done here. No one has been asking me to do anything or about how to do my job or to do any kind of work. All the work that I usually do has been given to someone else already. So for the past two days or so I've been basically twittling my thumbs and it has been extremely boring. I never doubted that they wouldn't make me feel like an outcast but they have. I'm used to working my tail off and making a good name for myself and getting things done. Monday I start my new job. What do I do? Wait it out?

you would think that since you have been there for three years they would be a little bit more appreciative ..wow they definetly have a way of showing you the door..although you may hate this place or your boss..I would wait it out..I know just sitting there not doing anything is pretty boring but pretty soon you will be leaving that god forsaken place....I just dont understand why bossess are so mean..

I worked at a law firm for about two years in NYC...lower manhattan near city hall.. 11 Park place to be exact.. where my boss was a dream come true..peaceful, thoughtful, sense of humor, caring etc..I fell in love with that man as a human being..it is soooo hard to find a boss like that.
Mr. J. god bless you and thank you for being so patient and understanding and caring.

I guess you should just continue to twittle your thumbs. Some people would call in sick for the last couple of days. But that would not be good for your reputation. If you don't care what they think take off early and tell them you want time to prepare for your new position - since there is nothing for you to do there.

If you've got any vacation time coming to you, take it. If you don't, then you'll have to wait it out. If you're really bored, ask someone for something to do. I've never had a last day, personally, that hasn't still been filled with work and an obvious sign that I could still have my job the next day.

patience is a virtue, you gave the two weeks, stick it out, and hey, you don't have to do anything!! consider it a mini vacation but you get to watch everyone else work!!! now that sounds like a vacation!!!

My husband just quit his job, he called in sick the last 2 days, he could not Handel it anymore.

If its 2 days left, just call in sick take a 4 day break till you start your new job.

GOOD LUCK!!!

two days are no big thing, even Yahoo gives you 3 days for this question. so wait it out. two months from now you will forget this horrible experiance.
