I would say that is would be a close, low scoring game that the Patriots would win. I think the score would be like 13-6 or 13-10. The reason I would pick the Patriots is because of Terry Bradshaw. If you look at his career stats he was an average QB that happened to be on a great team. His career completion percentage is 52% and threw just about as many interceptions as TD's. Tom Brady, on the other hand, is a very cerebral QB that would be able to manage the game. I think the Patriots defense would force a couple turnovers from Bradshaw and that would swing the game in the Patriots favor. When I say the Patriots defense I dont mean this years. I am referring to a couple years ago when they still had Ty Law at CB, Ted Washington at DT, and Willie McGinest at LB...all still in their prime. What do you think? If you disagree please give reasons.

Lucky? How lucky was Bradshaw by throwing a few balls up in the air during the superbowl and his recievers just happened to come down with it. Hell, Jeff George can do that! Also, Lynn Swann should NOT be in the hall of fame. I know he had big superbowl games but that does not mean he should be in the hall of fame. Deion Branch has had BIG superbowl games too but, as of right now in his career, he should not be going to the Hall of Fame. Plus, Ty Law would have shut Lynn Swann or Stallworth down. Dont say he wouldnt because he is a tough, smart, physical corner.

I agree. But the most important part of the Pats victory would be Belichick putting together a good game plan to shut down the Steelers and work around their strong defense.

Steelers, you cant compare Corey Dillon vs Franco Harris. You can't go by those Tom Brady stats. The Steelers ran the ball more often then the Pat's did but when Bradshaw threw the ball you had to great wide recievers in Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. The Steeler defense was awesome not that I'm not taking anything away from Brady or the Pat's Defense. Think how would the Super Bowl Patriots would stand up to the great teams of the Dallas Cowboys whom the Steelers defeated twice.

Your obviously a Pats fan; this wouldn't even be close. I hate the Steelers but I'm not dumb. The Steelers have a ton of hall of famers; just off the top of my head;
Joe Greene
Jack Ham
Jack Lambert
Mel Blount
Terry Bradshaw
Lynn Swann
Mike Webster
Chuck Knoll
John Stallworth
Franco Harris

During the times of the Steelers there was no salary cap so that you can get whoever you want. The Pats had the salary cap and they were very limited on who they could have. That's why the teams of today will never be as dominant as the teams of the past. The NFL wants turnover and parity in todays game. Back then there were dynastys'.

Ty Law couldn't tie Mel Blounts shoes; Willie McGinest over Lambert, Ham and Andy Russell? Ted Washington over Joe Greene, Dwight White and LC Greenwood. You literally have got to be kidding. You must be a young Pats fans because I saw this team as a Raider fan and they were scary, dominant, and were more physical than any team of today; it isn't even close.

Deion Branch and Troy Brown over Swann and Stallworth? Any RB over Rocky Bleir and Franco Harris?

The Raiders have the #1 defense against the pass this year. Does that mean their awesome against the pass? No. The Raiders are last in sacks, and near last against the run, scoring defense, and 3rd down conversions allowed. Theories and twisting stats isn't proof of anything.

The Steelers of the 70's would kill the Pats, the Steelers of today, or any other team. This isn't even close except for Pats fans.

24-10 Steelers.

The 70s Steeler defense was stronger than the Patriots. I give the nod to the 70s Steelers.

The first thing to be determined is the rules that would govern such a contest. The Steelers could compete under any kind of rules while modern teams would have trouble with the type of defense that was allowed to be played back then. Football has become basketball on cleats.

the steelers wouldnt score with that team... lynn swan wouldnt even start on the pats.. todays players are far superior to the players of the seventies..faster, stronger, better... in every facet of the game... bradshaw would be so stuffed in the pocket, he would be handing off to the 230 lb fat guy franco harris, not passing to the slowfooted recievers who wouldnt make todays squads..swann is the most overated receiver in history. any body can research a question on line then answer it like they had it all in their head, such as the guy who had both teams rosters in his answer, as for the hall of famers, a team dosent ever equal the sum of its parts.. the cincinnatti reds had several hall of famers,so do the yankees, but neither team is considered the best of all time...

Steelers would crush them. Look at all of the the games that the Pats barely won. They were good but they were also very lucky. One bad call in the Raiders game gave them that one. A lucky bounce here, a lucky bounce there. The Steelers dominated.

Two words STEEL CURTAIN!!! Pats wouldn't score on that defense. They had at least 5 shut-outs in 1978.
