Well, ask yourself this. If "you" liked a guy, and "he" didn't like "you," how would you want him to handle it? Would you prefere he was honest and forthright, or not ? I know it's tough to be that way sometimes in a situation like this one. So how about if you simply tell him, I really think we might make good friends, what do ya say? Then see how that turns out, okay? If he's a nice guy, hey you might have a good friend indeed. If he's a jerk, you found out just in time. Being honest hurts a person a lot less, than if you're not. Good luck.

Obviously you're a nice girl since you care about hurting his feelings. Just handle it the way you would want it handled if you were in his shoes. Tell him in a kind way that you don't see him like that. When you talk to him, leave no room for mis-interpretation, i.e. don't say "but we can be friends," or "right now I'm just not interested in you." Make sure he knows that he has zero chances. Be firm, but gentle and he'll get over it and move on.

I think you should tell him that for now you don't want to go out or anything. I know the guy! Just tell him you don't like him back (as gently as possible...) and he'll be cool. He's not the kind of guy that will feel so rejected and then never talk to you again or something.

Be nice about it. He's gonna be hurt no matter what you say or do, and will probably continue to try. Me and my fiancee were like that, I ended up breaking down and giving him a shot, now we're getting married. Go figure.

You just walk away and do not flirt with him or encourage him in no way, and he will loose interest. Perhaps you should give it a chance? Sometimes it pays to be patient and get to know the person before getting involved.

Sacrifice or hurt him. Just kidding, you sound like you like him but not in the same way he does you, how about introducing him to someone else.

don't say we can just be friends for some reason that makes them feel worse. just let him know you appreciate the feelings he has for you. tell him the truth, if you pretend or lie it will hurt him worse
