Have you got it and want to share it, or are you hitching a lift? If you are hitching a lift and that person hasn't protected themselves against hitchhikers then I have no compunctions to doing it, but don't forget that when they are offline, so are you. Other things worth mentioning are, Spyware, viruses, other junk that you might get from them.
On the other hand if you have it and want to share it, I don't see why not. You should be able to get access into your router by putting the access code into the internet address bar (eg http://123.456.0.1) You will need a user name and password. The box everything came ins hould tell you the defaults. Once there you just tell the router which computers you will allow to use your connection. Chose the setting's carefully though because with netgear specifically you need to pick "wireless settings", then "setup access list", then those connections listed in the "available wireless stations" list that you want just highlight and click "add". They will then appear in the "trusted wireless box". Cheery-bye.

If you mean the provider supplies the wireless signal direct, this is not ideal for sharing. The only way is to set up a second network card in the connected machine. Then set up internet connection sharing on the wireless connection. Use the Network connection wizard for this. Then all other machines connect through the main machine. A router will NOT work with such a service.

Yes, you can share your interne connection by using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).
For more detail go to help and support center in windows xp.
I dont know what do you mean for company. Ifyou mean ISP, then the answer would be wether the isp knows or doesnt know it hasnt anything to you.
You could share your Internet Connection even with static IP with even hundreds of users.
And for monitoring Lan activities theres a good software called "Net support". It takes you a full control access to anywhere in the network!

If you have a wireless router, then yes you can share internet access. Even though your ISP gives you a static IP address, you can make your router communicate with your ISP so that the router becomes your new ISP. Then just connect your other computers to it using wireless cards or wireless adapters.

What do you exactly mean with "share"?
One thing you can do is buy a wireless router, set a password, and give that password to those who you want to "share" with the internet. That is the simplest way and most secure way!
The router usually provides you with a lot of IPs.
Read about routers before you buy one

you can always get on wireless if there is a wifi signal in the area. set it as a second connection and set your tcp/ip properties to let windows choose your ip and dns information (if its not already set to that)... you may want to copy down what it was before so that if you want to go back to what you had ... you remember your previous settings. (you need a wireless adapter of some kind).
