This depends on the state that you are in. In my state (MD) the child would be considered to still be a minor until the time of graduation from high school (as long as he/she is not over the age of 19). If you were to do this and your child was savvy to the laws in your area, he could turn around and bring suit against you for abandonment. You might want to call social services in your area to get a clearer answer for your areas statutes as to what constitutes a minor.

Here are some questions you have to ask yourself. Especially if you are wanting to do this out of anger. Do you think that your son is ready to live a productive life? Is he taking the wrong path, have you done everything within your power to help the situation? Are you ready to loose him as a son?
