Sounds like the belts are squealing. Tighten them, or have them replaced.

Yes, it sounds like a squealing belt. Sure, check the belt tension but also make sure they are not TOO tight -- this will only wear out your alternator and a/c pump bearings etc all the faster. If you still get a squeal, try rubbing a liitle bit of ordinary soap on them along the v lines. Use the old-fashioned soap people use for hand-washing clothes. This usually does the trick. DON"T put grease or oil on the belts -- it'll ruin them!
Obviously only try this with the engine off, okay? You can lose fingers or worse otherwise :)
Hope this works,
Lenky

Are you sure the screeching you hear is the flywheel and not the alternator belt being loose? By what you describe it sounds like its not charging properly and when you start it the load of a weaker battery causes it to squeal. If your starter is binding on your flywheel try making a shim to go between your block and starter. They sell some shims for this but not sure if they have one for your model. By moving the starter away it takes pressure off .

Besides belts, occasionally, the starter gear will not catch the flywheel gears just right and the result is LOUD squeal or screech. This usually happens on older cars.
It's more likely the belts though.

Loose fanbelt most likely.
Or you had a cat sleeping in the fan shroud.
