Final Fantasy 10 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are my favorite Ps2 games.
Guitar hero is also alot of fun.
I haven't played Final Fantasy 12 yet so I can't comment on it.
Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: echos are my favorite games for the gamecube. The Legend of Zelda: wind waker was also a phemomenal game.

By far Final Fantasy games like ffx or ff12 (which still hasn't come out yet but it will ROCK) and off course the ever popular Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

They have a great story and awesome graphics (Final Fantasy games have the best graphics than any other ps2 games).

Final Fantasy 12 really marks a new spot into the series although it hasn't come out yet I played it cuz a friend got hold of a downloaded copy. God of War has got to be one of the best games ever released on PS2.

I own a PS2 and here's my list of faves:

Burnout 3: it's a racing game, and it has super fun tracks and great features like crash nav and takedown challenges

NASCAR '06: Another racing game that completely accurate about NASCAR racing. Really fun

Sonic mega collection: old fashioned game-play and fun

Spiderman 2: cool game and really fun

Those are my personal favorites. I don't know what game type you like...if you like war, try Call of Duty or Brothers in Arms. If you like comedy crazy games, try Simpsons road rage. If you like reality games, try Sims 1 or 2.
