The length is just 's'. If you know the volume, take the cube root to find the side.

For example, if the volume is 125 in.^3, then the side is 5 in.

The side length would be:

s= cube root of volume

I'm sad to say that I think you may have forgotten some information in your problem. If you have the volume, you take the cube root to find the length of one side.
