You can usually get away with packing it in your luggage if the bottle is not too big. Don't try to carry it on because everything you carry on goes through an xray machine. Also, if you like wine, and depending upon the cruse line, you can order bottles of wine for your stateroom. I just did that on Royal Caribbean; actually ordered two bottles of wine (was way way expensive at about $25 a bottle). You cannot buy liquor on board for your stteroom in the ship's duty free shop, they will only deliver it to you on the morning that you get off ship (or you have to pick it up that morning.)

Just pack them in your suitcase. They don't care if you bring it aboard. Another good thing is the duty-free shop onboard the ship. You can buy a bottle of liquor cheaper than at your local liquor store (No Tax). Take it back to your room and mix up some cocktails in a large insulated mug and walk around. You don't have to buy the drinks from the bars. It's perfectly ok to bring your own aboard. When getting off, however, you may have to pay tax to bring it back into the US. But, I never have any leftover, if you know what I mean.
