wyldfyr48 I can't help it if your liberal hero's are just plain DUMB! being a decorated soldier don't make you qualified to run the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. If murtha was true to the Marines he would of never called those young marines murderers and the samre for flip/flop kerry! I never served but I know a REAL soldier who was a real HERO who earned ALL his medals, in fact I know many!

First to you Nick...........the terrorist are NOT U.S. citizens and do NOT have the rights a citizen does yet the democrats and the aclu have sued and gotten them the same rights as the U.S. citizen!
Secondly they are not following the Constitution when they do this but are in reality giving ALL the world the rights of a U.S. citizen. Not just the Democrats but some Republicans as well.
Lastly the Geneva Convention says that the captured soldiers of a waring party is to be treated with certain conditions. This mean those that are in UNIFORM and fighting for a country and not mercenaries who have no uniform but can be treated as spys and shot with out any trial. The U.S. has not done this but could according to the G.C.

"Dems Aren't you embarrassed by your Representatives?"

Why, should I be?

"They prove over and over how much they hate America."

Which is, not at all.

"Why would we ever give the terrorist the rights to OUR court system and have you and I pay for it!"

Because they're being held prisoner in America. So things have to be done the American way. If you lock them up without charges and torture them, you're no better than the communists under Stalin. Funny, I thought you guys hated communists. Why are you trying to be just like them all of a sudden?

"They didn't have any rights like that in previous wars, I don't get it!"

There hasn't been anything like this in previous wars. Previous wars were against official armies, not armed civilians.

"I'm dumb please help!"

Yes, you are!

"Maybe we should be like them and stuff the captured with bombs in their stomachs like they did OUR SOLDIERS!"

That has only been done once. Don't act as if it's some kind of rule.

"Is that what you people want for this country? Seems that dean,pelosi,murtha,kerry,durbi... and teddy boy wants!"

Yup, you're definitely dumb.

I want to start by asking you about a specific part of this act that lists one of the definitions of an unlawful enemy combatant as, quote, “a person who, before, on, or after the date of the enactment of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, has been determined to be an unlawful enemy combatant by a combatant status review tribunal or another competent tribunal established under the authority of the president or the secretary of defense.”

Does that not basically mean that if Mr. Bush or Mr. Rumsfeld say so, anybody in this country, citizen or not, innocent or not, can end up being an unlawful enemy combatant?

JONATHAN TURLEY, GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR: It certainly does. In fact, later on, it says that if you even give material support to an organization that the president deems connected to one of these groups, you too can be an enemy combatant.

And the fact that he appoints this tribunal is meaningless. You know, standing behind him at the signing ceremony was his attorney general, who signed a memo that said that you could torture people, that you could do harm to them to the point of organ failure or death.

So if he appoints someone like that to be attorney general, you can imagine who he’s going be putting on this board.

OLBERMANN: Does this mean that under this law, ultimately the only thing keeping you, I, or the viewer out of Gitmo is the sanity and honesty of the president of the United States?

TURLEY: It does. And it’s a huge sea change for our democracy. The framers created a system where we did not have to rely on the good graces or good mood of the president. In fact, Madison said that he created a system essentially to be run by devils, where they could not do harm, because we didn’t rely on their good motivations.

Now we must. And people have no idea how significant this is. What, really, a time of shame this is for the American system. What the Congress did and what the president signed today essentially revokes over 200 years of American principles and values.

You should read this- althoughyou probably won't- which is excerpted from here:

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/15318240/from/RS.3/

Murtha and some others remember Vietnam-for 10 years we were told we could and must win. We couldn't and had to just pull out. Sometimes. there's nothing left. Sometimes we shouldn't be at war. We all care about our soldiers. They die every day and they don't know why.

Well at least our reps aren't off robbing the treasury blind to pay off fat cats. Nor are we trying to tell America how to live it's life. As for your very short sighted approach to the habeas corpus laws that just got passed. You obviously didn't read it anyone who is declared a enemy combatant american or otherwise, or immigrant living here legally can be held without the power to a trial or appeal. Obviously you must be some sort of NAZI to want such dumb laws that will be blown out of the water by the supreme court.

No. Representatives of my party uphold the most precious document in the nation - the Constitution. Your Representatives destroy the Constitution by giving over-riding powers to the President.

Anything "give up" in the war on Terror only allows the terrorists to achieve their goals. If you believe they hate us because of our freedoms, as your president says, then how is giving up said freedoms not giving up to terrorists? If you believe that we are better than terrorists, how is behaving like them make us any better?

We want security. Democrats actually want to secure the ports - Republicans have done nothing to protect them. Democrats have called for stronger security at nuclear and chemical plants - Republicans have done nothing.

All Republians want to do is scare Americans. With this latest threat, that's all their doing. And you know how it's obviously faked? The Federal Government said "It's not going to add additional security at any of the threatened sites." If it's a threat so bad that you have to tell us, why aren't you stiffening up security? Why? Because it's not real. It's a phantom threat.

And Republicans are merely posing straw-man arguments and false threats to maintain their power while they destroy the Constitution.

Now, where do you live? Do you live in New York, Washington DC, or even in any of the seven cities on the current list? Honestly, I bet not. The people who get most worked up about this live in places where there are no threats. Why is it that the people most fed up with Republicans live in areas where there are legitamate threats? Why? Because they know that Republicans are actually doing nothing, while maintaining fears in the heartland. They CUT the funding for New York City and Washington DC. CUT it. While expanding it for small towns in Wisconsin and Indiana.

That's the security that Republicans provide our nation.

Worthless, just like they are.

You know lawyers cooked this thing up. So what do you expect.

The prisoners do not have any Constitutional rights; but a right to trial shuts up those that would claim reparations.

Always look for the money first. And Government policy is a little more understandable.

Go big Red Go

I think it's the Republicans that should be embarassed by their corrupt, bribe taking, pedophile protecting, Constitution shredding, rubber stamping, deficit spending Representatives.
You realize that over half the Democratic Congressional representatives that you mentioned are decorated Veterans. Where did you serve and how many medals do you have?

Unfortunately they revoked habius corpus not for just terrorists, but for anyone they deem to be an enemy combatant. Since there is no requirement to be an enemy combatant other that Bush declaring you one, that means anyone including US citizens that are nothing more that political dissidents can be so named by our president and held without charges or a trial.

You should be the one embarrassed by your representatives.

Omg we democrats have ALWAYS loved America. Why can't you republicans understand that we still do but have different views and don't respect the president's choices?
No matter what the case, we seek morality and fairplay for everyone, and republicans just want national security to be more important than morality.
