The first time someone whoops any team that is supposed to be good, people start talking champs.Hockey is a very long season and many teams will get much better and some will get worse. The only games that really matter are in the spring when teams are battling for position and playoff games. Sit back, relax with a cold one and enjoy these games.Soon enough you'll be biting your nails waiting for a goal.Unfortunately I am a flyers fan and have been right where you are.

Buffalo is not an awful team. They have a speedy skilled team. Flyers are the awful team. Their defence is slow, they are still playing old school hockey. They still believe in the Broad Street Bullies era. Those days are gone. Buffalo didn't get to the playoffs last year because they got lucky. They have good players, they have a fantastic goalie. Yeah, Esche played good in the 1st period but there are THREE periods in a game. and the Sabres scored 6 goals in the 2nd period.
And to say Carolina will beat them--careful there. Carolina lost their first 5 games. I wouldn't count on Carolina for anything. If the Canes beat Buffalo then you can say "The Canes are ok/not superb...and (once again) they didn't win that game because they played great...-They won because Buffalo played awful."--In case you haven't noticed, I'm quoting you, just changing the teams names!!

I can easily agree the flyers defense is terrible in the new NHL. But to say the sabres aren't a championship club, well I can't agree with that. Except the flyers all of their wins are over high-caliber clubs. Even if they won in shootouts, they hung their the whole way. They were one of the elite squads last year, and of all the top teams retained their core talent better than anyone, maybe even slightly improved it with Spacek. Now Carolina, that is a team that lost a bunch of it's better players. I think the sabres next loss will come to a scrub team when they don't prepare well enough.

Yea, i do agree that it was due to phili being a bad team that buffalo killed them. But at the same time, its rather harsh to say that bufalo is a bad team and that it was just luck! Eeven though they lost a few players in the off season, they remain an ellite team. They are fast, hard working, and most important : THEY HAVE A GOALIE!!! Ryan Miller is an outstanding goalie (plus Biron is not so bad himself).
Heres another thought, although Buffalo won 9-1, briere , drury, hect and pomminville combined for a grand total of only 3 pts!!!
And they still scored 9!
Anyways, all im saying is that last year they proved they were an elite team, and if it wasnt for the mountain of defensive injuries in the playoffs, they probably would of won the cup. This year they remain undefeated, they can win tight ones, shoot-outs, or even by 8 goals. They can do it all!!!
I predict they will finish 1st overall.
What do u think?
ps. im a huge habs fan, so im not being biased or anything.

Buffalo- amazing, Eche was good in the first but there are three periods in a whole hockey game. I think the sabres are going to be one of the teams to bet this year. Philly was a good team but i am sure that the sabres are a hundred times better. Premature- yeah right. This is our year for sure!

Philly's D is awful. Buffalo has a good team. They did not make the conference finals last year on pure luck. You don't score 9 goals on any team in the NHL unless you have some talent. Miller is a very good goalie. I think Carolina can take them down as long as they get back to the basics, which they seem to have done over the past few games. Should be a good one.
Tampa will waffle Philly.

Good teams don't beat awful teams 9-1, you need to be an awfully good team to turn that tick. Like you, I watched the game very intently, but inlike you, I felt that the Sabres played a great game (and all the Buffalo papers agree with me)

IF u watched the goals buffalo had, they were amazing shots, buffalo is a smart n very taleted team in my opinion. And to thnk tht they are playing when they know tht their love ones are trying to save their kid and their homes, sitting in the dark. You should come to buffalo and see wht has happened, and the effects on the players,
If Buffalo is prematured, and Philly isn't, than theirr prematured cuz their a young team, not a party harty way. And than Philly's coach is premature, you don't make fun of other teams just cuz their better thn yours.
all in all buffalo is better thn philly.
(the canes' wont beat buffalo cuz buffalo has already destroyed them)
Buffalo is going all the wway this yr.

I didn't see the game, but I would say that drawing any conclusions at this point is ridiculously premature. Given the Ducks', Sharks', and Oilers' surprise appearances in the Western playoffs last season due to late-season upsets, I don't think anything in the new NHL is a given until March.

If Buffalo is premature, then Philly has not been conceived yet.
Accept it, move on. In due time the Sabres will have their hats handed to them.
It is a tough pill to swallow my friend. That pill being an a..kicking, which the Flyers received last night.
