I would have to say for it. If you're in love then you're in love.

For. marriage is marriage. People should be able to get married regardless of gender, race, religion or age without any interferance from anyone. The last figures I found on the subject said that more than half of all couples living together in america are not married. ANYONE that wants to get married should have that opportunity, without delay, without interferance, and without prejudice. And really, whey yo get right donw to it, that's all that the reluctance to allow gay amrriage is, prejudice. Besides why should they not have to suffer through divorce, alimony and mother-in-laws just becasue they are gay...the same arguments agains agy marriage that are being used now are teh same one that were used to try to prevent inter-racial marriages in the 60's and 70's. They didn't hold then , and they don't now. Every person should have the opportunity. Simple human rights, and the right to choose is the most fundamental...remember these words:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." Read the constitution...

Love is love...and the heart wants what the heart wants. Who are you, me or anyone else to deny that....

I am absolutely for gay marriage. Everyone deserves to be happy and sexual orientation does not matter.

Marriage is an institution of the state and therefore should be for everyone.

The Church declared marriage only for heterosexuals, but that does not make the standard right. The Church has been wrong before. The Church used the courts to put Galileo into prison for stating that the world is round.

Take care,
Troy

I am 100% for. When two people are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together, they should be able to get married, no matter if they are gay or straight. I think people who are against gay marriage should be reborn as gays in a society where they are being discriminated!! ;-)

I am no more "for or against" gay marriage than I am "for or against" a heterosexual marriage. If 2 people feel they are compatible and love each other and want to make a commitment to each other - what gives another person any right to condemn that in any way?

Look around at all the war and hate and prejudice. Who are we to condemn love between 2 consenting adults, regardless of their sexual orientation?

I AM FOR CIVIL UNIONS

When a couple gets married in Austria they HAVE to go to the local city hall and get a civil marriage to be recognized legally as a couple, afterward they can go to their church and get their wedding according to their traditions.

I think this figure could be very beneficial if introduced in the USA for ALL couples heterosexual or homosexual. A solely legal union that allows them by law to visit their partner in a hospital, receive insurance benefits, buy property as a couple, be eligible to inheritance in case of the sudden death of a partner and have all the legal benefits that couples who decided to share their lives have.

As far as weddings and religious ceremonies I'd leave that to the religious leaders if they want to accept their union or not. It seems like currently marriage in the US is an area where the line separating church and state is blurry at best.

Wow, well, this is america, and america is all about 'equality' so to speak....although that is highly overrated. But if it was a law to be passed, i'd say yea. PERSONALLY i'm not all for the whole gay thing, but to each their own needless to say, so for those with their ways, i mean it's their world, do the do. Just cause people think it's wrong doesn't give them the right to condemn it really, it's more your place to just deter from it. Cause in essence condemning is almost equivalent to the people who burned women cause they accused them of being witches.....and if you think THAT'S pretty messed up, then you're being a hypocrite by condemning such things as this...regardless of what YOU believe. Cause that's what those people back in the day believed, and that's why they burned those witches.......least that's my view.

I am neither for or against it, as it is not a personal issue.
At the same time, I will not tell a man or woman that they can not be with the one they love.
I also would not withhold benefits.
We are supposed to be the land of plenty and tolerance and the Bible states that whosoever is free of sin, cast the first stone.
yet, the "powers-that-be" intentionally divide us on trivial matters
that do not matter one whit!

I think they can get married, its the whole "adopting a child" that kinda gets to me.

Honestly alot of "straight people" also adopted children and abuse them...is so sad.

I have a friend that had that probleme, he tould me that at first there nice to you, but after they want you to pay them back for all the "support" they gave you...and they have sex with you.

Is such a sad thing....I wish there was something the adopting agency's could do before they let anyone adopt children.

AGAINST

Before i say anything i want to tell any gays/lesbians that i do not wish to offend.

I do believe in God and all that stuff but i follow no religion for reasons to long to say on here. I do however think that if you are religious then you have to follow that religion down to the ground and cant pick and choose what you want to beleive.

Using this opinion i am agaist because if you want to get married, say a Christian/Catholic marrige then you techniclly should be part of that religion. Therefore if you want to be a Christian/Catholic the you must follow the rules (ten commandments)one of them bieng
"MAN MUST NOT LIE WITH MAN"
which basicly means men cant have sex with men (same for women.)

So if you want to be gay then be gay but you cant say you are religious as well because that is totally wrong. Man must not lie with man is a commandment the same as dont murder which means it is as important as dont murder.

Homosexuallity is slowly bieng more and more accepted in the modern world and while society may accept your love you cant expect the church's to as well because you might as well ask them if it is alright to commit murder and expect them to say "go ahead god wont mind."

If you want to talk more then my msn is langrish1@hotmail.co.uk
