Not that I would,but have seen it done,Why do these tubes glow in proximity to high power cables with no visible connections.At night it is quite visible.

i've done it accidently under a train overhead wires and it's spooky....i cant understand how it starts up without a ballast and starter to actually ionise the neon to start..actually keeping it alight i can understand through inductance

It is because the hydrolastic foo foo valve is to close to the flux capacitor near the giggle pin !
