You might have a CD-ROM drive that runs at a slow speed (i.e.: 2x). If you want it faster, you will need a new one.

Check the voltage to the drive. If it's less than 12 volts, check another molex power connector and see if you can find one with the proper voltage and use that one for the drive. If the voltage to the drive is correct, it's time to RMA or return the drive for a new one, there is an internal problem.If you cannot find another connection with the proper voltage, then the problem is in the power supply. Make sure that you use one that is at least 400 Watts.
