I'm five weeks tomorrow, twice today I have went to the bathroom and wiped and had brown discharge. This is 2nd preg for me, no previous miscarriages. I do have endometriosis though. Wasn't that concerned, until I called the doc, she wanted me to go in tomorrow AM for an ultrasound (I have to wait till Friday though). I'm wasn't that concerned, but now I am. This is a new doc for me though and from what I hear she is very thorough. Brown discharge isn't that uncommon for me anyway (when not pregnant), so do I worry and fret about this or just relax?
(also....had pink discharge with my 1st preg at the end of first trimester, and brown discharge after every internal exam.)

Its my understanding that brown discharge is usually old blood. Not sure how that plays into pregnancy, though. Its smart that you called your doc. If she were super concerned she probably would have had to go to the hospital right away.

The best thing I can tell you is relax and try to take it easy. Until you hear for sure. I just had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago at 7 weeks pregnant. I saw some brown discharge which was old blood, it was such a small amount that I took it lightly. This was my 4th pregnancy and I had no problems with the other 3 so I still did all of my motherly duties and I ended up losing the baby. My husband and I were devastated. So just take it easy and do take this seriously. Good Luck. I pray that everything goes well for you.

I had brown discharge around the same time. My doctor told me not to worry about it unless it turned red. Brown or pink is okay (in small amounts) Your doc is probably just being careful. Look at it this way, even though at five weeks your baby is just a sqirmy little blob on the ultrasound, at least you will get to see her early. I had one at eight weeks to determine the age and it was very comforting. Best of luck to you, try not to worry too much

It could be nothing at all. Check with your doctor like you said.

When i had brown discharge i was miscarrying. I was also 5 weeks pregnant. It was brown then light red then red then back to brown. It wasn't a whole lot. No clots, no tissue came out of me. When i went for an ultrasound they told me i had already miscarried. But see i didn't even know i was pregnant in the 1st place. I started doing this after i had a normal period and it lasted for 6 days. Went to the er , found out i was pregnant then found out i wasn't no more. It was awful.

Are you having pains in your back and belly? (I did)
Are you so tired? (I was)

I hope you the best. Take care and congrats.

If you're sexually active (meaning you're not afraid or uncomfortable to have preggy sex or the dr hasn't told you not to), it could be old blood from getting hit repeatedly...especially after internal exams because you can get scratched. I had some brown discharge with my daughter and that's what they told me. But obviously I'm not a dr. so just get that confirmation from your dr.
