white, single, no children, non key workers, like me?
I was told by someone in power if I was a ethic minority, key worker single parent not only would I get a boat load of benefits to top up my £25k salary I'd also get a bigger handout from the goverment for open market homebuy (not talking couple of hundred either!!) shared ownership scheme and I would be jumped to the top of the list! But because I am not a key worker, am single have large deposit and no kids I'm snookered!

just to clarify I don't want benefits or handouts I want the chance to purchase my own home in one of the most expensive parts of England and therefore I need to use shared ownership. But due to haveing no kids and not being a key worker I am not a priority.

I think you make some excellent points and attracted a lot of unfair criticism. I don't think those without children should be taxed in order to support those that do - it actively discriminates against gays for a start; and if a person chooses not have children then they should be allowed to enjoy the extra cash that they can accumulate. But the Government discriminates against singles in order to show their support for 'family values' and win votes. The majority do have children and therefore supporting them is a vote winner. They want to show what a charitable lot they are which is why they subsidise immigrants. Blair isn't interested in fairness, his overriding concern is his status and power as an international statesman. The interests of his own electorate are only relevant just before an election (certainly not just before laucnhing a war that puts all of us a greater risk). With regard to the housing market; he bought two flats in Bristol as an investment and, therefore, would never do anything realistic to make housing affordable for everyone because it would eat into his profits and those of his close friends. I think we all need to realise the Govt. are not there to support us, but are there to use us for their own ends. We are the means to aquire power, and looking after our welfare is not theer primary purpose and they only attend to it in order to gain and maintain power and profit for themselves. They support keyworkers becasue they want to keep services running, not becasue they care about the services or those that work in them, but because if there is trouble with them they risk losing their power and profits. It is the dirty compromise we have to live with in a capitalist democracy. Look at the language; we are constantly referred to as 'voters' and 'consumers' - the fact that we are poeple with our own lives and dreams and feelings is irrelevant if we do not vote to empower politicians or consume goods that make profits for businesses.
UK PLC; CEO = Tony Blair.

Add being male to that and you can see why we middle aged white guys get a bit of a chuckle when we hear minorities whining about how they are constantly discriminated against!
-- Edit --
Just wanted to add that due to out of control illegal immigration white people in my state (Texas) now make up less than 50% of the population. I am looking forward to a white person making a legal case for being an ethnic minority. I will be interesting to see how the courts will attempt to exclude white people from these programs and still claim that they are not racist.

You already have plenty of advantages. You're single, you speak good english, you have no kids and a healthy salary. Why do you need handouts?
It's not that I agree with the government's handing out money to all of the above mentioned groups willy-nilly, it's the fact that you want handouts when you're already doing fine.

This totally pisses me and my pals off! We are mostly white, gay, good salaried, non-breeding females who get absolutely piss all from the government, yet our taxes go to providing for other peoples kids and pensions (we've got private pensions too, so will probably get penalised for that too in the future)
I've got a few pals who have never worked, have got kids, float from one nice house to the next, always seem to have money for luxuries and go on more holidays than I do!
Where did I go wrong???
B>T>W> My dad just 'retired', was told he was too old for another job and was'nt entitled to any help with mortgage etc.
He would have been better off staying at home and pissin' his benefits away over the years, but he is a decent guy who like most people want whats best for their family.
and why the hell are people attacking the 'asker' here?
People who work get **** all in this country yet it hands out cash to any lazy bastard who wants it.
we dont want hand-outs, just our fair share of whats going round,

This government discriminates against the English, I have come to loath the New Labour I hated the conservative and the Libs are a load of pansies, I don't like saying it but I think we need somebody like the BNP in for a short spell, or perhaps we could have a president because you can shoot them if you don't like them. I know this maybe silly talk but that's how I feel.

seek the Bar affiliation information superhighway internet site for a criminal professional close to you that practices kin regulation. i in my opinion doubt that they located your toddler in a house with a nicely-liked intercourse criminal. intercourse offenders are actually not eligble for such centers and could never acquire a toddler is their crime in contact a toddler (or probable in any respect). you're able to desire to to seek for some regulation colleges on your state and see if somebody there ought to help besides.

Welcome to the single white male club. We have felt like that for years. Particularly, the middle class ones. At least you don't have the man hating feminists trying to undermine you.
