You can't erase a CD-R.

If you are worried about securely getting rid of the data on a CD-R, it is best to destroy the disk

Some of the better paper shredders have a small slot so you can shred the disk.

If shredding is not possible, place the disk inside something to prevent fragments from flying such as a terrycloth towel and break the disk into several pieces.

BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS doing this. Fragments my fly so eye protection is recommended. Also, the fragments may be sharp.
