Many of you are asking why people support the republican party. Here is an article that that states what I believe in. Can someone answer me in a similar fashion why are you a democrat?

Come on people, can any of you give me a list of what you believe in and why? I am not trying to fan the republican vs. democrat bashing on this site. I simply want to know what you believe in.
We have established that you all hate Bush. Can you list it out for me without getting all pissy about it?

Noils - Republicans like myself support the environment. However we also believe that we need to coexist on the planet with nature, not just stuff money in our pockets. Many companies do a great job of conserving the environment, only to get slammed by the left.

rather than take the time to find something online that is the equal of that, i'll tell you my views and approach it that route, first of this is a highly biast article, full of propaganda. i'm not saying you can't find liberal equivelents, but things of this nature shouldn't be used to determine your party, for either side. next, notice how he doesn't accuse the Democrats of anything? rather he tries to emply that they are the opposite of what he is saying. this just isn't true, not everything in this world is black and white and in some cases Democrats would actually agree with what was stated. so lets go threw some of them
Attitude: it states that he feels all democrats are negative, well if that's all he has expeirienced then fine, he's in the wrong area. i can honestly say that i've had plenty of bad experiences with republicans, it's part of disagreeing with people, sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and work towards a compromise rather than name call. both people will always see the other person as negative in an argument.
God: Why does everyone assume that being liberal means you don't believe in God or Values and ethics? having a different view on a few issues doesn't mean that someone is anti God, they just may have a slightly different view of what God means. Furthermore the founding fathers created this nation on the seperation of church and state because it is human nature than when religion mixes with politics nations fall. It's larger than us and history has proven this to be true every time without exception. i have no problem with politicians being religious, and realistically that will always influence some of their decisions, but to try to bring the two together is a bad idea. also, public schools are a part of the public and are funded by government money (for the most part). if you want to be in a school where you can pray, by all means go to a private school, there is nothing wrong with that.. also, we have much larger issues facing our schools rather than religion, such as the level and quality of the education the students are getting, lets work on the real problems and not the superficial ones.
Love of country: Who ever said Democrats don't love their country? we just have a slightly different idea of how the country should be ran, doesn't make either of us wrong, just makes us different.
US flag: No patriot from any party wants to see the flag burn. the thing is though that the point of this nation is to be able to disagree and express yourself, though it hurts me in my core to see the flag burn, i am proud to live in a nation where people have the right to speak free and express themselves.
Abortion: this is something that really gets tangled up.. first off, no party is going to significantly change the rules on abortion because the nation is too devided and it would be political suicide. that being said, i think many liberals feel the same way i do, and that is this. Ethically i hate abortion, i think it is wrong and i wish for every baby to have a chance, even if that means adoption. Legally though, with the way our government is set up, i feel we have to offer that choice, as much as it sickens me. Being pro-choice doesn't mean you like to kill babies.
Marriage: Not really that big of an issue to me, if they want to define it is a religous cerimony between a man and a woman fine by me. at the same time, being gay doesn't make you less than human, so what can we do to let them be happy? for all i care create a new cerimony, have the state ordain it and give them a little tax break or something.. you don't have to call it marriage.. but either way they are still going to be together.. wether they have the title or not.
Affirmative Action: Completely agree, enough is enough
Military: if we'd stop policing the world, we'd have more than enough military to do anything that was ever needed.. but when you have bases in over half the world of course you are going to be stretched thin, only china could pull that off... lets take care of America first! if the rest of the world falls apart that's their fault, focus on feeding our children and educating people and keeping them healthy.. and if the rest of the world wants economic or technological health to take care of their people then fine, i'm all for helping them out that way.. but we don't need to police them when we have so much crime and famin here at home.
Business: Trickle down theory killed the middle class in this nation, sure it was good for some people, and it moved some of the middle class to the rich status, but it took a lot of the rest and made them poor. a middle class is what keeps a nation healthy and ours is fading away. i have no problem with big business, but they need to have less influence on how our country is run.
Taxation of the wealthy: are we really that greedy? we give money to a starving Etheopian but we tax our people into submission.. sure rich people have (a lot of times) earned their money, but why can't they give back equally to the nation that helped them make it? it's not like they won't still be rich after they paid their taxes.. a millionair is still a millionair.. i'm all for levying the same tax on all people, no matter what they make (minus the poor of course) .. just call it the price to live in this great nation.
Energy: what's up with the owl thing? are we so oil dependent that we refuse to find new ways to get energy? we've only got one planet and we are smart enough to preserve our environment and to create smarter energy plans and alternative energy sources so why don't we? because oil runs threw our political veins.
Environment: no Democrat is against a wooden bat or a piano, how absurd, but that doesn't mean to ruin an entire ecosystem without a need. again, we are smart enough to preserve what we have AND to prosper!
Personal responsibility: again, he doesn't say the Democrats don't take responsibility, but he sure wants to emply it doesn't he? both parties have failed to take responsibility and both have stood up and taken it. that's about the person, not the party and it's even in both.
spell check locked up on this thesis here and i don't have the time to go back and proof read, so take it easy on me ;)

Attitude: I am not a person who goes with the status quo just because. I voice my opinion and don’t cave to party pressure. I believe on moving ahead not back you staying the course. I believe in the constitution. Believe you should question government. They are not always right and above board. They work for us not the other way around
God: I believe in Separation of Church and state and religious freedom
Love of Country: I love my country and my freedom.
U.S. Flag: I love our nation's flag and what it represents - it is wrong to desecrate it. That’s why it should be a law not to do that. Until there is, there’s nothing that anyone can do about it. So if you don't like it change it.
Abortion: It’s between the Woman and her God and no one else
Marriage: I don’t care. Just don’t bother me
Affirmative Action: Enough is enough. I do agree Best person for the Job Period
Military: Coming from a Military family I to respect our armed forces and the fact that they are willing to give there life for mine. My Father, Brother and daughter are vets, and son in law is going to Iraq
Business: I don't think that Business should get more tax breaks then your average American does
Taxation: Again I don’t feel that the wealthy should be given more tax breaks the your average middle class
Healthcare: Everyone in this country should have the right to medical care. Are we a third world nation. Do you realize how much more it cost to care for people who have not got preventative care and your trying to undo years of neglect because they can’t afford care? It’s better and cheaper to prevent then try and fix
Energy: I think our government could be doing more for green sources for energy; plenty of other nations are way ahead of us on that front. Instead of breaks and incentives to the oil companies, why not incentives for people to convert there homes to solar power?
Environment: I think that it should be a balance you cannot continually take and never give back; there won’t be anything for the future.
Personal Responsibility: I believe in taking personal responsibility for my actions, and not pointing the finger at someone else to take the blame. Like the Entire Government is doing these days

The biggest reason I'm a Democrat is that I want those kids who were born without privilege to have the same chance at success in life as the children who live in those mansions on the hill.
A second reason is the environment. It's beyond me why Republicans want to jeopardize the very existence of our planet to stuff money in their pockets.

I hate copy and paste answers but in this case I think Wikipedia says it better then I ever could. By the way, excellent question. Nicely stated. From Wikipedia.
Liberalism is an ideology, philosophical view, and political tradition which holds that liberty is the primary political value.[1] Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought.
Broadly speaking, contemporary liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, [citation needed]limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, free public education, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected.[2] In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.[3]
Many modern liberals advocate a greater degree of government interference in the free market, often in the form of anti-discrimination laws, civil service examinations, universal education, and progressive taxation. This philosophy frequently extends to a belief that the government should provide for a degree of general welfare, including benefits for the unemployed, housing for the homeless, and medical care for the sick. Such publicly-funded initiatives and interferences in the market are rejected by modern advocates of classical liberalism, which emphasizes free private enterprise, individual property rights and freedom of contract; classical liberals hold that economic inequality, as arising naturally from competition in the free market, does not justify the violation of private property rights. However, modern advocates of classical liberalism do advocate a heavier taxation on the corporation, as opposed to the current trend of the burden of income tax resting on the shoulders of the individual worker, as did the early classical liberals.
Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought, with adherents spanning a large part of the political spectrum.
A broader use of the term liberalism is in the context of liberal democracy (see also constitutionalism). In this sense of the word, it refers to a democracy in which the powers of government are limited and the rights of citizens are legally defined; this applies to nearly all Western democracies, and therefore is not solely associated with liberal parties.

Me I am just really anti Republican more than anything else...and you should be too!
That is if you cared more about the constitution then you did your blind allegiance to to a party that sends people on Imperialistic, immoral wars...then strips its citizens of the very rights it says it is trying to establish in another country.
