I saw "Click", only because my mother-in-law thought it was one of the "greatest movies ever made"..... hm.... I didn't like it at all! and I didn't think it was such an ingenious plot, I mean, it's like watching "A Christmas Carol", only this time the guy has a remote control to do the job of teaching him a lesson, instead of the ghosts....
And if is not the same concept being presented in a slightly different way, is a remake of an old movie, or a sequel, now they're doing "prequels"...
ARGH!
Bottom line: what's going on with script writers? Have they run out of ideas?
What do you think?

Hollywood doesn't like to take risks, but like earning millions of $$. So they take everything that has had success and change a thing or two since they own the rights anyways and relaunch the movies with new names.

They even make movies based on Bestselling books!

Pretty much.

My mom said the same thing about songs. There are only so many notes, and only so many combinations and sequences you can put those notes in. After awhile, you're going to get songs that sound pretty similar. Think back to some of the classic Beatles songs, or even the song from "That Thing You Do" (the main song) and compare it to The Click Five's "Just a Girl". Similar, right? The beat and everything?

There are only so many ideas and plot twists and themes you can develop before you start repeating them. If you *don't* repeat them and try to come up with something fresh, you risk it being too "out there" and "implausible" and studios just don't want to take that risk. So they find something that's worked before, tweak it a little, update it, and then ship it out for a new audience.

Sad, but true...

EW did a great article two weeks ago about the female market and movies. Basically Hollywood breaks down their demos into four markets: young males, old males, young females, and old females. So what happens that that they believe creating movies that covers all markets is better for their value, this causes them to repeat the same ideas and to appeal to the same audiences. Hollywood actually should try doing something besides their quadrant method b/c more ppl will go to the movies.

I totally agree with everything you said.Havent seen "Click"yet, but I wanted too..dont think I will.I am so sick and tired of watching the same ideas redone over and over,so I just stick to watching older movies that I like...or foreign films. Some are really good, you'd be surprised!

I would to see more innovation. Nothing is truly original anymore. I think they could a much better job building on the sources they use.

It's the studios. Just think of them as a bunch of Washington lawmakers and it should be clear.
