No, a wild card team should not get home field advantage, even if the wild card team has a better record than a division winner.

In all honesty, the team with the best regular season record, whatever league they are in, should host the series. If that isn't good enough, then they should go back to rotating. I would say, the teams that make the series, the one with the best record should host, but stadiums need more time to prepare.

Give it to the team with the best overall record at the end of the regular season. Or better yet, the league that wins the series, their league hosts the following year.

Having it come down to the All-Star game would be fine, if the coaches & players selected the team. If you want the game to count, have the people who are involved pick the team, not the fans.

Personally, the fans should get to select the reserves...the starters should be chosen by the players & managers.

I'll answer it even tho I am from the Detroit area..

No.. It should be based on the best over all record, regardless of standings.. i.e Mets go, they should get home field because they had the better record.. and if St. Louis wins the right to go to the world series, then Detroit, with the better record, should have home field advantage..

No system is perfect, one could say why would a second place team get home field in the World Series.. simple answer is they won 12 more games than St. Louis in the regular season.. conversely, the Mets had 2 more wins than Detroit and they should have it..

I didn't like the 'alternating home field' in the 70s and 80s and dislike the all star game deciding home field even more.. I am glad Detroit has it, but it aint right to the Mets

I like the fact that the winner of the All Star game gets "something"......it makes it more interesting to know that there is a real POINT in playing the game.....I think the players take it more seriously for that reason.

As far as Detroit also being the wild card.....what does that matter? The AL won the All Star game....so it makes no difference who is the wildcard team, right?

nope, it is quite rare for a series to only go 4 games. i expect Detroit to win in five games....because they have the home field advantage they will play 2 games at home and three on the road. it only matters if it goes seven games and that means extra money for the billionaire owners the Minnesota twins lost only one road game the entire playoffs. the all star game is the biggest con perpetrated against the players union.

I decided to answer this question before your caveat about Detroit. The Tigers should have eternal home field advantage because of their total domination of MLB. Forever. We need the business in Michigan. :)

its the rules stop crying, it could have easily went the other way. Plus the wild card from the al was 10 times better than any team in the nl.
