If you put the smallest drop in the center of the nail and very, very, quickly use the tip of the glue tube (or some other similiar thing if you can pick it up quickly enough) to neatly spread the drop out to the edges of the nail that usually stops you from applying to much.

The drop should probably be less than, say, this: O A drop this size will spread out when you put it on the nail and should be just about enough to spread the glue toward both sides of the nail. As you probably know, too much glue makes a giant mess of the fake nail, and you end up having to throw it out and start over.

You can always later run a thin strip of glue over the crack between the fake nail and the real one and then sand that down. Its a way to seal that space and add some "security" to the fake nail. Just be careful not to sand beyond the glue strip and onto your own nail.

Spend the $3 and buy a brush on glue. So much easier to control the amount you put on and easier to see where it's going.

the smallest amount possible to make them stick typically i only put a tiny tiny dot of glue and then use the pressure of the nail contact to make the glue spread out.
