Usually if you get to 41 or 42 weeks the doctor will induce labor. It is not considered safe to continue a pregnancy much past the 42 week mark, although if your due date was not calculated correctly, then you might not be as far along as you originally thought.

yes its common, anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks, i would seriously ask your midwife to be induced soon though as going past 42 weeks isnt a very good idea for obvious reasons, i dont know where you live but in cumbria, england you would be induced before you got to 42 weeks

yeah, but usually by the 42 week they induce.
They dont let you go more than 14 days over ANY time, usually not more than 7-10.
Are you guys seeing a doctor?

a term baby is a baby born after 37 weeks but most babies are born around the 40 week mark although first time mums usually go over their dates. However, if you are now 42 weeks pregnant, your hospital should have arranged induction of labour for you as to go too far over your due date poses a slight risk to your baby as the placenta doesn't work as well at this stage. talk to your midwife

Not common but can happen.
It is considered to be a healthy natural birth if the baby is born anywhere betwwen 37 and 42 weeks.

Yes, all my children were late arrivals. I went over 42 weeks with them all and had to be induced. The midwife will tell your partner to go into hospital on a certain day, so she can be induced.[artificial labour], to deliver the babies. Good Luck

I think normally at 42 weeks is on the boundry of when you should be induced, I wouldn't have said they would do it any earlier but I don't think they'll leave it much later.
