LOL I was going to say Iron Maiden and Judas Priest before I clicked on your question. When I think of 80s music those are the first two that come to mind.

It's very hard to just choose one since metal is a genre that actually has different catagories so my votes would be:
Glam/ hair- Motley Crue
Thrash- Metallica- old school
Death- Slayer
Melodic-Iron Maiden/ Helloween
Christian- Stryper ( they are actually damn good)
Pure Metal- Judas Priest ( damn the 80's had some good music- those were the days!)

So many to choose from. I like Iron Maiden and Priest. There is also Metallica, Scorpions, WASP, Megadeth for hardcore metal. Then there is the Hair Bands like Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, White Snake, White Lion etc. Then you have the old favorites like Van Halen, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard, KISS. Where does it end.
