At the reception I would want everyone on the dancefloor so I'd really like some cheerful music like stuff by the Polyphonic Spree, Scissor Sisters, and Talking Heads. I'd love some 80's new wave stuff playing too.

Age of Aquarius should be thrown in somewhere.

I would love to have "If You Rescue Me" from the Science of Sleep soundtrack be the song I dance to with my husband.

my wedding cd (which each guest got a copy of as their gift [a smart thing to do is to put a thank you note with it so you don't have to do them after the wedding]) had:
etta james - at last (the song we danced to)
sting - if i ever lose my faith in you
des'ree kissing
pretenders - i'll stand by you
chicago - color my world
dean martin - volare
frank sinatra - fly me to the moon
the alarm - presense of love
david bowie - wild is the wind
u2 - all i want is you
sting - my one and only love
peter gabriel - in your eyes
madness - it must be love
erasure - always

generic music depends on your guests. we had stuff like shakira, anna toroja, the beatles, boston, tori amos, melissa etheridge, a lot of big band music (glenn miller, brian setzer), stray cats, madonna, prince... pretty much anything that didn't swear and wasn't heavy metal (we had a lot of older people there)

During the ceremony we had Lothlorien by Enya, Harry's Game by Clannad and some songs by Enigma. We never had a reception at night as it was a small wedding.

The opening song, in which the bride and groom dance to will be "Stay with Me", by John Legend ( I think that is the name, I had a brain fart...ugh! hate those...or I think it is We Belong Together...one of those 2)...and for the rest of the wedding, romantic spanish music for a bit, then booty shaking music, and then cumbias, and salsa...and back to booty shaking music...got have that...

I chose the song 'Someone Like You' by Van Morrison for my first dance. It's not one of the overplayed popular songs which is what I liked about it and everybody commented on how lovely the words were. Another nice one is 'Fallen' by Lauren Wood, from the film 'Pretty Woman'.
