Becaus they're fiscally conservative, but socially liberal. For example, they do not believe the government should be able to tell people anything about their personal lives including abortion or gay marriage. As a rule. Less laws the better.

First of all, Libertarians are not Conservative. That half of the question is simply false. If you want to understand why, go here

http://www.lp.org

and look for "The World's Smallest Political Quiz". Whether you think it's an accurate gauge or not, since you'll probably read too much into the questions, you can't help but learn that Libertarians are neither Liberal nor Conservative, nor are we Moderates or Middle of the Road.

We seem Conservative to Liberals because we do agree with a lot of what Conservatives say. Unfortunately, most of those things they say that we agree with are things they fail to follow up on in practice.

We seem Liberal to Conservatives because we agree with a lot of what Liberals say. Unfortunately, Liberals say those things in reference to specific sub groups, while we intend the blessings of Liberty to all people, not just voting blocs.

Basically Libertarians are pro-Freedom, on all issues, for all people, at all times.

Liberals and Conservatives are not. They merely differ in what freedoms they want the government to restrict.

I will pass on answering why Liberals claim to be Libertarians, other than to guess it probably has something to do with trying to get votes.

I am a Liberal and I am in no way, shape, or form a libertarian. I don't know about Hellvis, But Libertarians are Conservative on some issues and Liberal on some issues.

Libertarianism is a political philosophy advocating that individuals should be free to do whatever they wish with their person or property, as long as they do not infringe on the same liberty of others.

Hellvis CALLS himself a libertarian but ALWAYS seems to side with the libs against Conservatives.
Some people on here just SAY they are libertarians and are not.

** not being quite sure if Hellvis is male/female/ or a combination of the two, my references to "it" will change from time to time.

Libertarians strongly want a relief in authorities. the position is authorities the most energetic, the most intrusive? Porn is already freely accessible. Our speech is loose. you're loose to be gay, and however in case you are able to't get "married," frequently you are able to benefit a similar rights through civil union. Liberals communicate about drug legalization, yet they don't act on it hardly. And Libertarians are exceptionally frivolously split on the lack of life penalty. enable's settle for it, the position does gov't interfere in maximum of our lives? In economics, business enterprise and taxation. We see the damage in that daily with poor jobs comments, a pitiful GDP, outrageous debt and deficits and 80,000 pages of up to date guidelines each and every year. Liberals are for extra gov't, extra regulation, and extra taxation of the commercial gadget and business enterprise. it is why maximum Libertarians, like myself, strongly want and reduce back Conservatives.

Liberals favor government action to promote equality, whereas conservatives favor government action to promote order. Libertarians favor freedom and oppose government action to promote either equality or order.
