i have a technics 1210 decki, can i just plug it in somewhere

Turntables will need a preamp before plugging it into a soundcard. You can either pick up an inexpensive mixer or plug it into a regular amp and use your aux out to go to the soundcard.

Yes, most soundcards have a line in that can be connected to a record player with suitable cables. If you don't have a deck, there are some USB record decks out there specially designed for ripping from record.

plug your deck into your amp, and then into your soundcard...and use something like JET AUDIO or ANVIL studios to record it and save it as an MP3.
