on the tool bar go to "Tools" then click on "Internet Options" where it says "address" type www.yahoo.com and click ok that should work. or you can just go to www.yahoo.com and on the left it will say "set yahoo as home page" click on that and you will be done.

Some times companies like AOL dont' let the browser change especially if you get service from AOL. I hope this will do it.

But I like www.google.com better home page

Windows has a program you can use to stop webpages from hijacking what page you want to set as your home page. It is called Windows Defender and you can access it and download it for free at the Microsoft Security Site:

http://www.microsoft.com/security

Once you get to the main security page scroll down the middle listing and locate Windows Defender. Click on the link and then download and install the program. This program will not interfer with any other security suites you currently have on your system as it is a spyware and other malware, not a firewall or a virus program. Only firewalls and anti-virus programs are limited to one on a system at a time.

Once you have the program installed go into the settings page and locate the page where your computer and browser settings are. There you can change and set the page you want as your home page and Windows Defender will not allow any other web site to hijack it again. It can only be changed if you go back to these settings and change it yourself. It will warn you if any website tries to change your settings and then you can see which one it is and locate the file on your system which is causing this to occur.

Often services like AOL and Norton security suite, etc, hides files and executables in the hidden files and folders section of your computer. You can make them viewable by going into any Windows Explorer window and clicking on Tools-then select Folder Options, then select the View Tab. On the View tab scroll down until you get to the entry "Hidden files and Folders" and select "Show hidden files and folders". Then you will be able to look for other AOL files and folders you may not have known were on your system. When you are done make sure you go back into the same place you revealed hidden files and folders and check "Hide hidden files and folders" to protect unskilled users from accidently changing settings or deleting important system files and folders.

Good luck and have a great day!

AOL probably overwrites the homepage setting each time you run AOL. You may need to change the setting in AOL directly (look through some of the settings options) as well as changing it in Internet Explorer (Tools -> Internet Options: Address).

If all else fails a program that protects registry settings (e.g., AdAware, SpyBot) can protect your homepage setting. When AOL tries to reset your homepage these programs will ask you if you want to allow it (at which point you can say no).

Good luck!

AOL actually runs like a virus. You're going to have to remove all references to them from the registry. If you don't know how, contact AOL customer service to resolve it. They'll give you a hard time, but they will help you.

Tools, Internet Options, Homepage, www.yahoo.com...

There are some AOL files embedded in your program files, you can go to My computer, C:, program files, find any file with AOL and get rid of it.
